8:59, 20-05-2012

On May 20, 2012 Ararat News-Publishing (ANP) organized a ceremony in Bulgaria to honor the Kurdish writer Seyhmus Diken for his book and work on tolerance and understanding between ethnic and religious groups.

Diken's book Gittiler Iste (Here They Are Gone) is a collection of essays, telling the story of Diyarbakir (Dikranakert) city in the time of peaceful coexistence between Armenians, Kurds, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Kurdish Yezidis, Greeks, Jews and other ethnic and religious groups more than a century ago. When the Christians were killed or forced by the Turkish governors to leave the city, they took the cultural richness and spirit of Diyarbakir with them.

Diken presented his own book in two Bulgarian cities - Sofia and Plovdiv - and many Armenians attended the event in both cities to express their gratitude to the Kurdish writer, who works to preserve the memory of the Armenians that lived in Diyarbakir in the past.
