We are happy to share that last Saturday the conductor of AGBU Sofia Chamber Orchestra, Maestro Levon Manukyan, joined the literature class of the Bulgarian school "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" in Paris. The theme for which topic Maestro Manukyan spoke was about the Armenian culture, spirit and traditions. This connection was possible with the cooperation of Mrs. Sonia Avakian - Bedrossian, Honorary Chairperson of AGBU Sofia.

In our literature class last Saturday was the Bulgarian conductor of Armenian origin Levon Manukyan Conductor. With a lot of desire and enthusiasm he shared his impressions with students and parents from his recent visit of Armenia and especially his thoughts and feelings as the heir to a heroic nation that went through mass massacres in the late 19th century and the brutal genocide of 1915.
During the tough months of the pandemic situation, in March and April AGBU Sofia managed to help financially disadvantaged compatriots by buying and delivering food and more. Аs a part of AGBU's overall mission around the world, we are happy that were able to be empathetic, to help and give a smile to those in need.

Over the years, AGBU has become a symbol and flag bearer of humanity and charity, supporting our nation from the time of Great genocide until today.
On 23rd of January 2020, a decision for a new chairman of the organization at the regular Board meeting of the Armenian General Benevolent Union Parekordzagan Sofia (AGBU Sofia) was made.The current chairman, Mr. Arno Kuyumdjian, has been replaced by Mr. Velizar Agopyan after a vote by the members of the Board, where the new nomination was unanimously adopted.
On 12 June 2020, on invitation of Mrs. Sonya Avakian - Bedrossian, Honorary Chairperson of AGBU Sofia, an interesting meeting in the office of the organization was held with the young and talented musician Sergey Vardevarian, who accepted the invitation to be the next “AGBU Sofia Chamber Orchestra” soloist at the upcoming concert in July.
Upon a formal invitation by Mrs. Sonia Avakian-Bedrossian, the honorable chair of AGBU Sofia, HE Sri Astari Rasjid, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Albania/ gave a friendly visit to AGBU Sofia.
Today оn behalf of the Armenian General Benevolent Union Parekordzagan – Sofia, today the Honorary chairperson of the organization, Mrs. Sonia Avakian - Bedrossian visited the Embassy of Lebanon in Sofia and presented a letter of condolence and a beautiful flower arrangement.
We would like to thank to everyone who responded to the charity bazaar and contributed somehow: the organizers, donors, participants, visitors. With joint efforts, we managed to collect the amount of BGN 22070, which will be sent to our compatriots in Artsakh in need. We believe that this will help them in such a difficult time and we pray for a fast end of the conflict!
On November 7th we realized the event Night of the Armenian Literature with the purpose to gather donations for Armenia in these hard times. It was supposed to take place in the Literature Club “Peroto” in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia but we were forced to take other actions because of the complicated situation with the Coronavirus. This is why the event took place online on Facebook and it reached more than 400 people including people living outside Bulgaria.
